As you may know from my earlier post on the benefits of Cissus, I am a strong believer in its capabilites. It has helped me overcome joint pain and problems and is now a staple in my diet.

Product Overview

Cissus Pro 1000 isn’t just ground up Cissus plant in a capsule. It is extract from the root of the cissus plant inside a capsule. This way it is much more potent. This product is made with 20% total 3-Ketosterones. This concentration of 3-Ketosterones is said to be the best to bring out the maximum benefits. L-Leucine, an essential amino acid, is also included in the mix. Keter Wellness (the manufacturer) uses L-Leucine in the manufacturing process. Its content is said to be less than 10mg or 2% per capsule, which is insignificant.

What it Can do For You

As I explained in a previous post, Cissus q has many beneficial properties including anti-inflammatory, antihemorrhoidal, antiulcer, parasympathomimetic, antioxidant, antiosteoporotic, and analgesic properties. If you are here because of joint pain of course you are looking to benefit from its bone/joint strengthening properties. Cissus is well researched and studies and has proven time again to increase bone healing and even strengthen already healthy bones.

In each serving of Cissus Pro 1000 you are receiving 1000mg of Cissus extract and this is recommended to be consumed twice per day. So is this 2g per day an optimal dosage?

There are many studies that have been performed on rats. One found that Cissus dosed at 500mg/kg BW per day began to reverse osteoporotic activity (et al. (2003)) and two others concluded that Cissus also dosed at 500mg/kg BW per day resulted in inceased bone strength and thickness (Potuet al., 2010 &2011).

Just think about how high a dosage that is. If a 200lb person supplemented 500mg/kg BW that would be 45g of Cissus. So don’t worry about overdosing with this supplements 2g per day. This herb is very safe.

The only study I could find dealing with human bone healing was published in the National Journal of Maxillofacial Surgery in 2013. It tested the healing capabilities of Cissus on 60 patients with mandible (type of bone) fractures. The test subjects supplemented two 300mg capsules twice per day. So thats only 1200mg per day. The results showed that the Cissus accelerated fracture healing and bone remodeling, shortening the healing time by about 2 weeks.

So as for the 2g per day that Cissus Pro 1000 provides you, it is definitely beneficial.

What Do I Think About It?

It is rather pricey for a simple plant extract costing you about $1 per day. However, it works. So stop taking pain killers after the gym and try Cissus Pro 1000. Its one of the better and trusted Cissus products on the market. It is quality extract with a reasonable recommended dosage. That combination means it works. With everything in mind I rate this product at about an 8.5/10.
